Scout Ashes is a mobile app that carries forward one of scouting's oldest traditions: the passing of campfire ashes. By custom, a pinch of ash from one campfire is saved and added to the next, so every fire carries embers of the fires before it. Scout Ashes makes that chain visible, verifiable, and global — scouts log each fire, carry the ash forward, and connect their fire to the one before it, building an unbroken worldwide lineage of campfires that traces back to Baden-Powell's original 1907 fire on Brownsea Island. The app is in pilot with troops now and launches publicly in 2026.
